Optical Spectroscopy and Sample Preparation for In-Situ Analysis

LMT is a leader in the design and development of scientific instruments integrating microfluidics and optics for in-situ analysis.

Our Core Capabilities:

  • Microfluidic Water Analysis: We design portable microfluidic analysis instruments to measure organic and inorganic ions in potable water, thermal control system cooling water, and human wastewater.

  • NASA-Ready Technology: We designed a low-volume analyte separation, concentration, and transfer system compatible with NASA's state-of-the-art in-situ instruments.

  • Advanced Optical Systems: We engineer high-performance optical systems for industrial, environmental, and water monitoring, including: long-path absorption cells operating from Deep-UV through the Mid-IR, and highly-sensitive fluorescence systems.

Instruments Searching for Life in Extraterrestrial Environments

Partnering with numerous leading universities, agencies and institutions such as NASA, SETI, Stone Aerospace, and Honeybee Robotics , LMT is designing the next generation of instruments to search for habitats—and potential inhabitants—on extraterrestrial worlds like Europa and Mars.

Our Exploration Platforms Include:

  • Compact deep-ultraviolet (DUV) and hyperspectral microscopes

  • Highly-sensitive fluorescence spectrometers

  • Microchip capillary electrophoresis (MCE) platforms with custom fluorescence detection

  • Solid-phase chemical extraction and separation systems
